Harry and Shellburt, two good friends, rerun the classic race between the tortoise and the hare.
Boston Sunday Herald
Erick Ingraham introduces a very likable hare and tortoise who give the old fable a new twist in their re-running of the race. The illustrations are particulaly appealing and evoke quick responses in young readers.
The text's even, smooth style is welcome; but more so, the unususlly creative, skillfully drawn illustrations, which borrow warm colors and softly sinuous forms from nature.
New York Times
There are no flies on author or artist. A pleasant little book.
